up into the big sky

Winnie Dixon sitting with me on the crescent beach early yesterday morning

More big feelings of gratitude and thanks this early morning. I feel very blessed. How is it that all my hopes and dreams are coming true. I'm thinking and wondering far too much, always, about the how of it all ? perhaps the secret, my secret, is that I always did keep a few hopes & dreams ... even in those times when it felt like I wanted to give up, despair and hopelessness like a cozy quilt I wanted to tuck in under and that dark place began to feel - the safest, easiest & most comfortable place to be. I know that it's crazy to constantly question my good fortune - and honestly I do try to not pick away at that big question how ? but what surrounds me now feels so miraculous - it really does.

Not a day goes by that I don't look up into the big sky above me and say thank you. To who I'm not quite sure ... but someone, or something deserves my thanks.

Hey that darn expat Brit guy Mmm over at Hot Toast & Jam is featuring us today in his weekly blog round up Feature Fridays (he interviews a different blogger each week). Can you say tres long winded (yikes I sure did prattle on !). Fantastic questions. Merci Mmm !

  1. LOVE that third picture, the over the shoulder Glamour Shot. I do believe Miss D has a touch of the Ham about her.

  2. That was a great interview, Susan! And answered some of the questions I've been asking, eg about how you came to your village, and so on. So interesting how life turns out, isn't it!.

  3. Miss D is a beauty! And, what wonderful photos. I wonder if my Greyhound, Tara, would pose like that?..Hum...She does get that dreamy look in her eyes.

You have a lovely blog. Btw, I found you via the interview with Mmm.

  5. Great interview, Susan! Can't wait to read part two next week! You have a really big life, Susan....it takes a lot of words to describe it....you were NOT prattling on and on. Trying to give the world a thumbnail sketch of 29 Black Street is no small task! Completely enjoyed it!!!

  7. You are RADIANT. Is it wrong that I think you and your dog look alike? And I mean that as a compliment. I'm new to dog-hood, so...

  8. Hee, love that word, "prattle". Oh, it's ok, susan--makes for a very interesting interview for those willing to read all the way though. I loved it. Can;t wait to reveal part 2 next week.

"How is it that all my hopes and dreams are coming true."--you know, I was just thinking, I never read that anywhere and here are you writing this. Whoa. A year ago or so I would have never guessed. It's just so WONDERFULLY bizarre, whatever the reasons or serendipity of life. My only advice would be to do exactly what you are already doing--which is soaking it up, cherishing each moment, as none of us know how long each of us will last, let alone each phase of life. All smiles your way this lovely morning here in Colorado.

  9. Susan ~ I so enjoyed your interview with Mmm. I've visited your blog many times, although not a regular commenter. I've always enjoyed your love of nature and the ability to see beauty everywhere. I'm looking forward to the second post! :)
