e-courses

2 large pots of geraniums sit on the extra wide windowsill of our chocolate brown bedroom. The light in the afternoon & early evening is spectacular in these west facing, harbour gazing rooms (the other room is my sweet studio office soon also to have a big re-do). The extra daylight this early spring has the geraniums in a blooming madness & barely a day goes by that I don't walk into that room at some time late in the day & gasp ! then rush out again to grab my camera.

Photography is really all about the light. If you haven't got great light and there are many, many types of great light, or you don't have the equipment to create great artificial light (and who does)... you'll never be thrilled with a photo. It's about the light. Always.

& speaking of light Hey !! I'm thinking about doing e-courses. Ya huh !! shut up ! I know. Why didn't I think of that. Gotta thank my friend & CE mentor Deanne for the lovely hard push in this direction. I'd like to start with 2 mini (3 week - 15 days) beginner courses to start.

A photography e-course  - the habit of photography - a mini course about learning to love the art of looking, how to find great subject matter (it's really everywhere all around you) & learn how to document your life in a thrilling way, understanding more about light, a bit about composition & developing great, experimental shooting habits. Materials needed - basic point & shoot camera.

The other e-course will be a basic collage mixed media course clip, snip, glue, paint, draw - learn the tricks & tips of making your own wall art & greeting cards (and trust me it's all about the tips & tricks & I have tons of them - a bit of a trickster am I). Materials needed - a collection of paper, glue, wrapping paper, old books & atlases, tissue paper, paint, waterproof pens & markers.

I'd love to know if anyone's interested. I'm thinking to start, each mini course would be 3 weeks long (set up as a blog) daily posts (weekdays) with instruction, inspiration, prompts, tips, tricks & techniques, a weekly assignment & weekly wrap up - course cost 50. & begin June/July

  7. what a brilliant idea. PERFECTO.

You know now that I see a crow I say hello to it and tell it to say hi to you. I think the mid-western crows are a bit confused as to who Susan is but I keep hoping to run across a far traveling Canuck crow.

Love the type and label on that date package.

  8. By the way, the girls are in for the photography class too. So you have three students already. I've been looking for things for the three of us to do this summer, and this is PERFECT.

If you think the other class would be good for a couple of almost-nine-year-olds I'll sign them up for that too. I don't know anything about visual arts, but if you think I should do it with them I will. Just let me know.

    Woot!!!
