daisies along the grassy lane
and perfect dreams of times gone by ...
Dreams of a freshly mowed grassy lane, the lane that leads down the hill to the back shore beach. A lane that separates huge rolling pastures from the tiny woods where the blue herons nest. The place where all my love still lives on in dreams and memories. If I close my eyes it seems like only yesterday ... racing along sandbars with three dogs in tow, over rocks and through fields of wildflowers, climbing red clay cliffs to stand, the three of us, in the bayberry and wild rose pasture so we could better view this magical place. Red, golden and black fur wet and dripping and glistening in the sun. Contented happy dogs. My dogs, my pack ... of three

What beautiful memories, Susan. I love the pictures of the Sweeties, dripping wet, looking so happy.
ReplyDeleteI was feeling a little down this morning when I came to your blog and there was my favorite flower in a photo. It made me smile! Memories are happy/sad!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet memories to have. Hope you have a lovely, productive day.
ReplyDeleteGrassy lanes and contended dogs...a perfect post. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy memory, Susan. Bittersweet for you, I know, but what a hollow loss if it did not exist.
ReplyDeleteLove to you on this warm day!
So poignant, Susan. I know those feelings well. Me and my three, Mutz, Dally and Jake, racing across the wide open spaces of the ranch. Me driving the Gator, the pups keeping pace and jumping into the back for an occasional ride, wind blowing their fur. We are so lucky, Susan, to have known this.
ReplyDeletebeautiful. looks like we are both having some supreme nature time. what makes the flower photo really sing is that lavender cast to the sky -makes the greens so fresh! just lovely. of course, i love seeing dogs in the water, too!
ReplyDeleteYou create some great images with your words.
ReplyDeleteI know those 3 dog memories. Sigh.
