window vistas from the second level of this old brick house
This time of year with summer drawing near the temperatures are finally warm enough to have all the large windows on the second floor permanently open. Screens in place, curtains drifting, breathing gently in and out, new leaves rustling on the almost constant breeze that blows in from the harbour. The window boxes are all filled with as much hot and bright colour as I could find (hot pinks, corals, reds and yellow citrus green) less they get lost in the ever and always Green, green, green creeping and encroaching threatening to swallow us whole. This is the time of year - with all of our big trees, now in full leaf and surrounding us, with vines and creepers all well begun their annual march, of big leafed green and twisted branch, up and over this house, with the constant chattering and singing, from just before to dawn to just past dusk, of every kind of bird I can imagine, and the breeze blowing in and all around this old second floor - this is the time of year when I feel like I live in a most heavenly tree house.
