her grace

Miss D relaxing yesterday in a patch of sunshine in her big upstairs hallway lookout chair

Her grace, her big ol' sweet as can be Winnie Dixon grace.

We'll do it all

On our own

We don't need
Or anyone

I don't know how to say how I feel
those three words are said too much
they're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
would you lie with me
and just forget the world
forget what we're told
before we get too old
show me a garden that's
bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes,
they're all I can see

I need your grace
to remind me
to find my own

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

Missy D is hanging in there. She seems quite bright, is eating (cat food and steamed chicken breast please) with vigour. It's her body that's not cooperating. There's somethin' going on. Rather than spin the luck of the draw and take her to an unknown vet today we'll wait to keep our tomorrow afternoon apt. with our fav & best vet in the bigger town nearby. She needs an xray I'm sure of that.

Oh my, Missy D the places we've been, the lives we've lived, the love we share.

Pardon me, if I begin to prepare myself,
perhaps prematurely (but then isn't that the meaning of prepare).
Now is not the time to be a messin' with my sadness, trust me.

I'm sure now that grieving and healing are the same thing sometimes,
and magic and death are the same thing sometimes
and trusting and failing are the same thing sometimes.

  1. You put it beautifully. The love in those eyes says it all.

  2. Thinking of you with many tail wags,

  3. oh dear... just a thought. My sister has a 12 year old fellow who has been feeling kinda poorly lately... a visit to the vet showed nothing apparently wrong, but sister pointed out to him how Tigger's (so named 'cause he bounces!) body mechanics had changed. The vet applied acupuncture to Tig and sister is already noticing the bounce coming back into his step. She's also been feeding him a geriatric supplement made up of all sorts of green foods. If you wish, I can get you the specifics on that. All the best!

  4. aahhh..what wonderful pictures of Miss D
    Benny & Lily

  5. thank you all, and Kathie I would love the specifics, thank you. Winnie is having a much better day today, she just now barked her face off as the cowboy entered (her usual ol' self). All weekend she had been extremely lethargic & wobbly and none of her barking "hark who goes there". Off to the vet tomorrow hopefully for some good news.

  6. big hugs to both you and missy d as you go thru this together. sending prayers that she is ok. presley was on liquid dog motrin for the last couple years of his life to treat arthritis. we could always tell when his poor old body was aching. he looked at us differently and was just not himself. as for preparing your self, i don't regret a minute of the 2-3 years i spent preparing myself for saying goodbye to presley.hang in there!

  7. I am sending hugs to you, Susan, and Trista is sending hugs to Winn - hope they help!

  8. I love Snow Patrol and Chasing Cars is my favourite of them all. Sometimes, it's too hard for me to listen to though, as it brings to mind some things that make my heart ache all over again. Is it weird that even happy memories make me want to cry at times? Ugh.

    Miss you. Much love. xo

  9. Oh my. Surrounding you and Miss Winnie D with endless love and light...
