model with catitude Oliver avec new favourite 18x24 framed giclee print dans our beautiful bathroom. Giclee prints of Bold Floral (horizontal), Bold Floral (vertical) & Believe, Be Love all available in my etsy shop

Ordinarily, I go to the woods alone,
with not a single friend, for they are all
smilers and talkers and therefore unsuitable.

I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to

the catbirds or hugging the old black oak tree.
I have my way of praying, as you no doubt have yours.

Besides, when I am alone I can become invisible.

I can sit on the top of a dune as motionless as an uprise
of weeds, until the foxes run by unconcerned.
I can hear the almost unbearable sound of the roses singing.

If you have ever gone to the woods with me,

I must love you very much.

Mary Oliver - How I go to the woods

I love you Mary Oliver, you help me to feel sane ... kindred spirits we are

Even though I do trust that my creative style is ever evolving these pieces above, these bold florals, with their neon bits on white washed kraft cardboard (the back page of pads of tracing paper) have become my current signature, at least to me. I recently had the gig poster I did early this past summer for Kim Harris enlarged, an 18 x 24 giclee print that now leans (I'm a terrible leaner, not yet a hanger ;-) in our beautiful clean, white renovated bathroom. I love it. I framed it a very affordable poster frame that comes with a thin sheet of plexi/plastic instead of glass that I ordered from Deserres a Canadian art supply store with a fabulous shop location in Halifax and a regular haunt when I'm in the city visiting with MLou. We deprived Nova Scotians do not have an Ikea (very sad face).

Anyway I love this big new art piece and my current signature style & Oliver loves it too.

Oh & Hey ! the Bold Florals are now available as garden flags, mailbox covers & more ... a collaboration with Magnet Works check out me & my designs for them in their new spring catalogue here. (mid page click on check out new designs here I'm pages 18-21) Wow !

You have no idea how much it bothers me that I can't figure out how to make these photos all have the same width - errrgggghhh - steam coming out of my ears. update bother no more  - thanks Amanda !

  1. Oliver the cat, and Oliver the poet. Why didn't I make that connection earlier?

Mary telling it like it is: by myself, sometimes, because it is sometimes better that way.

  3. Beautiful poem. And, hmm... what does a person have to to do get you to do a gig poster for them??? Inquiring minds want to know...

  4. I edit photo size in the "html" tab when I'm editing blog posts. Somewhere in all the code you'll see something that looks like this:

I change the width to my desired size so it looks like this: width="500" and delete the height altogether (height="240"). That way Blogger automatically keeps the photo size proportionate.

I hope that makes sense! Let me know if it doesn't!

  5. Oh no, just realized it didn't post any of the html. Anyway, if you click on "html" when you're writing your posts, you should be able to find where it says "height" and "width" in all the code. Just change the numbers in width and delete the height.

  7. Now, I will expand on the details at our lunch today BUT I wanted to publicly say that you posting Mary Oliver's poem gave me what I needed to create an essay for a competition I really want to, and really should, submit to. I was stumped but I told the Great God of Creative Flow what I needed - inspiration - and voila! You posted that poem. It fits perfectly with an essay I've already written but I couldn't figure out how to expand it and give it a little more kick for this competition. Thank you!

  10. I'm with Allyson. Is there a Canadian supplier. Actually I went to the site and couldn't find any way to order on line ... Lovely stuff.

  11. Hey Allyson & Sybil - good question. I don't know if they have retailers in Canada selling their product. I receive two samples of each item. 5 items per design, 6 designs .... that's 60 pieces. Yikes. I don't have a mailbox and not that many gardens ;-)

I know I'll have a grand give away ... speaking of that I have jewellery samples too. Another giveaway - that would be loads of fun.
