les uniform of fleece and wool and some springtime tulips

From the 2009 photo archives. If you stopped by 29 Black Street (at any time) the chances that I would be wearing this favourite and oh so chic number of tres oversized, cosy fleece in a dull nothing shade of green (with a fleck) avec my faux turtleneck (fav black & white Nordic scarf) are almost 100 to 1. The uniform of the self employed designer gal who lives in an 130+ year old, very drafty and chilly big ol' brick house.

Final touches on the basement cleaning-out project will happen this morning and then my Prince (OATG) * will begin project No.2 removing the acoustic tiled ceilings currently in the large living room/dining room and kitchen and replacing these ugly ceilings with smooth beautiful gyp rock. After that, project No. 3 - the building of les giant, along one wall - built in cabinets, book shelves, media/entertainment centre will begin, in our lovely loft like living/dining area - the room that faces the harbour, the room with 9 beautiful windows and chocolate brown floors. Sighing. And Oh !! Wait 'til you hear our plans for the giant yard and garden. My heart sings.

My handsome history lovin' bower bird is building his nest.

I'm thinking of creating another blog to document this incredible reno project - a new blog that will replace (obviously) the 29blackstreet4sale blog. Stay tuned.

  1. That Bower Bird footage is amazing! Can't wait to see how the CB arranges the acorns and flowers around 29 Black Street. Gotta go help my BB with the snow shoveling now!

  2. Oh my! Thank you for the wonderful little Bower Bird 'tutorial'. I loved it! And I MUST ask: what, pray tell, did your wonderful Cowboy DO with his time BEFORE you discovered each other and he set about making all your dreams come true? Wish I lived near you: because you have CLEARLY won the lottery (in a manner of speaking!) and I would like to rub you for LUCK!!!

  3. And when you've finished no. 29, how about a nice little working holiday over here in the UK? I would be happy to provide you with a project!

  4. Greg says yes.... get on it....he loves to see the pain and suffering of others on the reno front.... and of course the accomplishments! Probably because we are the only people we know who have been doing things to our nest for so many years.

He also says... take lots of pics...because they come in handy in the future if you need to run other wiring or do something else to your new or existing areas....

All our wiring and cables are under ceilings and behind walls now...but we left areas for "fishing" more through if we upgraded... except for the boxed in drop down screen... we almost had to rip out our lovely smooth ceiling to re do some wiring...but, old photos of how the box for the screen was built saved us from that unspeakable horror. We found a space where we could just remove the trim... cut a smallish hole, see through to the projector and run some new cables... whew....! huge new project averted! I was balking anyway...and saying Mr. RenoWorld had to dream up a Plan B.... and we did. With old photos of our original reno down here....

  5. Susan, this is just GREAT! A clean, dry basement, tuned up heating system...Smooth gyp ceilings (can he do THAT?), an entertainment wall, surround sound music, a lush, contained garden? cooking! Do you think you'll just die from the excitement? I loved the picture of you (the outfit looks like a great uniform for an artist). I have been trying to piece together all the pictures of you, and the composite makes a great whole! In other words, I LIKE my BLACKSTREET BLOGGER very much. Love to the Cowboy and the little people in "furry" pajamas!!!

  11. Oh really? Well i was wondering? I so loved the pics there though. I wonder if that couple that saw it and loved it is now kicking themselves they didn't take it when they find out/if they find out it's no longer for sale?

  12. Umm, I know this is archived but isn't that a ring on your wedding finger?! fortuitous perhaps although I realise you aren't necessarily into that sort of tradition per se. Well, that would have kept other guys awy in time for oyu to meet your cowboy anyway, even if there had been some around you lliked adn vice versa. LOL.
