bitter & sweet

oh my sweet Winnie Dixon I love you & I miss you + the most beautiful poppy perhaps that I have ever seen

Someday you're gonna look back on this moment of your life as such a sweet time of grieving. You'll see that you were in mourning and your heart was broken, but your life was changing... Elizabeth Gilbert

I'm gearing up for this brand new year a favourite imd of mine it's no secret - I sure do love that feeling of a fresh page, a clean slate, and especially this year in my new home with my new life - a chance for a complete reinvention of me, myself, we & of course my bustling & ever growing Creative Empire ;-)

I've chosen my "one little word" for this year (details later this week). I tried on two others before I finally landed on the one + I love the idea of choosing 4 or 5 supporting words to go along with your main word and also the idea of choosing a word or theme for each month of the year.

Do you choose one little word to help guide you in the new year ? if so I'd love to here what it is and why you chose it. Want to know more about the process of choosing a word. Elise Blaha Cripe talks about her word in this post + listen to her podcast with Ali Edwards & her One Little Word project. Also Susannah Conway has a free 5 day email course guiding you to your perfect word.

Happy, happy Monday !

  1. That picture brings tears to my eyes.....sweet precious girl, Winnie are amazing me, Susan! Just wide open, embracing everything each new day brings...almost fearless! So good to see you taking over the world! Hugs, my friend, and Happy New Year to you and all those you love!

  2. I've always been fascinated by your choosing of a word for a year. I may just check out that 5-day email course.

I do do RESOLUTIONS each year and have been most successful. From book reading to water drinking, I focus on simple objectives. I'm still mulling over what my new resolution will be ...

Look forward to hearing about THE word for 2015.

  3. Dear Susan, a beautiful photo of sweet Winnie D. amongst the grass and flowers, Christmas is a time when you would remember her sweet presence and miss her. The poppy is so lovely.
So glad that you are embracing your new life and beginning with a fresh page, I look forward to your 'word' for 2015.
    Much love, Dianne
    xoxoxo ♡

  4. Winnie D looks so happy romping around in that picture…such a beautiful smiling face. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about the New Year as you are. The first thing on my agenda is to see my attorney and start trying to settle my Mother's estate. I know it is not going to be pretty and I've put it off as long as I can. Seems like the past the two years has been one major thing or another to take care and everything together has started to affect my health. I want a clean slate. I want my life back!! I'm working real hard on trying to find that "word" to get me through the coming months!

  5. A beautiful picture of Winnie Dixon, romping around in the tall grass.

Love the idea of a word for the year, or even a word for the month as you seem to have chosen with "promote" for January. So, do you still have the word for the year?

It's funny as wholly separate from reading this, Alex was reading somewhere else this morning about a word or thought for the month and that this blogger felt that allowed her to more easily absorb/tackle it into more bite sized offerings. I'm so loving the idea but haha, I know myself all too well.....

Thank you for the links. I've opened each of them up in different tabs and am going to check them out after my visit here. :)

  6. Hello Susan. Sybil suggested I stop by as I have chosen a word to focus on each year for a few years now. In 2013 is was "Enchanted" and last years word, "Authentic". I'm still waiting for this year's word to find me, and I know it will. It always does.

I'm guessing that Winnie Dixon is a dearly departed Tess went to doggy heaven last January. A sad time, but my life has been so enriched for having her with me for eleven years.

Happy New Year to you! ~ Joanne -
