books, cats ... life is good T. S. Eliot
Books - currently listening to the audio book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, next up I'll be listening to Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (both available on youtube) & I'm currently reading Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed & Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change by Pema Chodron - my goal this year is to read/listen to 50 books - here we go !
Cats - it's cat appreciation day around here. That darn Oliver - he's amazing. I marvel each and every day how much love, comfort & character comes in such a compact package. I could not have made this move without him. He's sitting beside me now as I type this on his little corner of my desk - his office under the heat & spotlight of my lamp. He's my everything cat ... coach, therapist, buddy, creative director, executive assistant, brutal critic (when I need it the most), photography assistant & best friend. Best cat ever.
2015 - I've had a slow start to the new year. I've been sick ;-( a nasty cold which thankfully is clearly on the mend but it's put me a little behind my schedule. Look for my one little word for 2015 Monday & also a post to follow that about the supporting cast of words and a little bit about how I chose them.
Happy New Year, Susan! I hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy new year to you as well dear John.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your visits, support & comments xoxo Susan & gang
Happy New Year! So sorry you had to start the New Year sick. There is a lot of stuff going around this year. I try to pump up the vitamins and stay away from crowds and stores. Mr. Oliver looks like a cat with a lot of personality. My Gracie is camera shy. She will never look at the camera when I am trying to get a good photo of her. As a young kitten/cat, she was the most aloof cat I have ever owned. She is coming around with age. She may turn into a very loving cat after all! Needless to say, I love her dearly.
ReplyDeleteGet well FAST! I hope Oliver is permitting sick leave to be used?! Hope you see the movies after the books {Unbroken + Wild}. Woof + tail wags from the Colorado ice box!
ReplyDeleteWaiting for that word. Love the kitty shots. Glad you're feeling better. Looking forward to seeing you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are sick dear Susan, I hope you will soon be well. Beautiful photos of Oliver, he is such a handsome boy and so photogenic, a very co-operative subject for photos.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter bought my cats a tunnel for Christmas, it makes a crinkly sound when they walk through it and it also has a ball at the end which I think has some catnip inside.
Love, Dianne xoxoxo ♡
Dear Galestorm, Happy New Year to as well and I do wish you well as you begin dealing with your mother's estate - the thing I keep reminding myself, when overwhelmed with difficult emotions, is that they do pass - their edge dulls. Pema Chodron suggests breathing deeply into those feelings, I've been practicing just that and it feels so much better when I do.
ReplyDeleteIt's been my fairly limited experience that boy cats tend to be more affectionate, even clinging, then females. Lulu & Itty Bitty Betty my 2 female cat experiences. Both were/are affectionate only on their terms though both I found to be fiercely loyal. Oliver's an exception even to the boy cat category. Honestly he's like a dog and cat combined - which is a dreamy combo for me ;-) much love to you & Gracie xoxo Susan
