with a plank

prescience perhaps ... interesting ... that darn sailboat - A Tiny Life No.2

To love is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.

Emily Dickinson

Uh Huh ! I soooooo hear ya talking girlfriend.

It's as if I'm being constantly smacked up side the head (as we say here in rural Nova Scotia) with a gigantic sponge (Nerf like), red, pink and very sweet, 2x6 plank. Just as I get to my feet again, whap ! another smack of that darn love plank. I know, I know ... you'd think this drastic and totally fabulous about face in my demeanour, my life, my existence here on this planet would have me skipping around ta-doo-ta-doo, not a care in the world, and hence super alive and tres productive - a Madam Invincible is here for a long stay so Watch Out ! roll and y'all better get yourself out of our way ! You'd think. But ... alas

Uh Uh ! Pas

Seems extreme emotion (of any flavour) is never my friend. Doesn't seem to make a difference if it's good, bad or sad. Extreme of any sort gets in my way, it keeps jumping up in front of me, taunting me and slowing me down as I try to keep up with all of my big, well thought out plans and commitments. Seems Mama's forgotten how to live in neutral or maybe I've never really known how and actually come to think of it - I'm just not much of a neutral kinda girl. I'm an All or nothin' and sadly, quite proud of it. That said, neutral, in this old brick house, is where stuff gets done, it's where the darn magic happens.

Remember that giant ship load of good things I told you about, projects, previous (and now getting old & very tired) promises- with a big ol' wink to B. Shamu if she'll still have me, new exciting jobs, renewed relationships with all time favourite customers, seasonal design freebie favours ('cause that is who I wish to be) plus the cleaning out of this old brick house making room for that darn cowboy and the beautiful brown hound, and more, and on ... and on. So much good, so much to do, so much promise and endless possibilities that I sit and spin my wheels in beautiful overwhelm (very distant cousin to sad and desperate overwhelm but their resemblance to each other is remarkable).

Please, I beg of you ... no Snap out of It ! requests. There's no Snappin' out of This and don't ya think I might have already tried that ?? I'm just about to make the big geezley list, the must do, have to do, 7 day, like a big time slot jig saw puzzle - list. I will, I promise put my nose to that darn teak topped desk.

I promise I will visit your blogs and I will comment once again, I will add photos of the much loved yet tres neglected Piper Belle, handsome and soft as can be Oliver, the Fussy Bastard - Gus and the big, fat, weird, black velvet chicelet Bleet to my sidebar. I will once again speak of other topics, I will post parcels, I will mail cards in hopes that they might reach their far away destinations by Christmas (good luck girlfriend). I will, I will....

I will return ... I think ...
I hope.
Merci for your patience

  2. Dear heart, getting smacked upside the head with a big pink love plank sounds kinda fun. Almost Benny Hillish.
Don't you understand - we're your Greek Chorus (hey quit stepping on my robe), your friends from afar. I would imagine that if you ran a blog poll that asked which we preferred, A) Susan unhappy and miserable but always available for a good comment or blog reading or B) So Happy she's walking on air, bubbly goofy Susan, who's so busy wearing out the button on her answering and if she doesn't stop she's going to break it listening to the Cowboy's love musings but no time for blog comments or packages, I'm pretty sure that not one soul would vote for A. (Unless, of course, there's one ornery soul out there that would vote for A just to be ornery like some dumb sportwriter voting against putting Cal Ripkin in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Cantankerous old poops)
We are your pen pals, that old fashioned idea where people know each other for years without ever meeting. We've just upgraded it to the year 2009.
So be at peace sister, Karma is whacking you with her love plank. All is right with the world.

  3. It's funny even though the cowboy who is a bit of a luddite (and that's puttin' it mildly) does not read my blog - he does know much of it's existence, is aware of his recent starring role and of my gang of merry commenters and best far away friends and he referred to them as my Greek Chorus. Smirk. I am a girl who likes to get things done, to not be tardy, to be reliable, dependable, bla blah good, perfect, bla and so on. And boy ! my brain, she is a fuzz ball.

However today so far so good - lots of household chores finished up and now some mad teak toppin' it. Deadlines loom.

Thanks for the big ol' vote of confidence - you who SHALL BE the ultimate recipient of plus (that's francais for much) goodness from the North loveyalots xo S and les Gang (and yes there is still a gang of furry ones who do live here with me and yes I am remembering to feed them. Phew)

  4. WE LOVE THIS NEW EXCITING PART OF YOUR LIFE. DON'T FEEL GUILTY FOR FEELING GOOD. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND YOU UPS AND DOWNS. MOST ARTISTS ARE LIKE THAT. I GUESS I LIKE TO BE THAT WAY, TOO, BECAUSE "MEDIUM" IS BORING....AND BORING IS ABOUT THE WORST STATE I KNOW OF. I AM SAVING ALL YOUR POSTS FOR MY PSYCHOLOGICAL FOLDER: "I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE."

  5. I am reading into your drawing that your love is just the tip of a great big iceberg. But, I am puzzled by what is sinking just out of sight? Seven?
Enjoy that fuzzy brained feeling. Some people pay big money for drugs to feel that! (Not I, but I have heard.... )

  8. Ah, so Cupid has given up the bow and arrow, and gone for a 2x6 plank, finding it much more effective obviously. Our saying in Australia is "being whacked by a piece of 2x4".He packs a powerful punch for such a little cherub doesn't he!

  10. I am with Big Shamu, I vote for option B...we all love you Susan, and wish you only the very best. You DESERVE it! There is something so delicious to be so productive getting things done, staying busy, counting the days, until Cowboy and Bess return the Brick house...your talent is only regenerating...we will wait patiently for the fireworks!
