an assortment of photos gathered this week ...

The last remnants of ice in our little harbour. Slabs of white, islands of ice sailing in and out on the tide all week long and today the harbour is still and almost completely ice free.

6:15 Blue Skies bubbles have been poured, my second cup of coffee sits here beside me, the birds are all up and singing outside our windows and the sky is just beginning to lose it's darkness.

That girl and her husband are coming for a visit today. Hooray ! They're driving from the city to scoop me up and we'll carry on driving to the nearest big town for a shopping excursion. We're going to the giant home reno/building store - we're looking at flooring and countertops - I'll say no more. Wink. Then a stop at the Superstore (my fav giant grocery store) for things not available in this little village plus large quantities of assorted pet things, and perhaps a quick stop at Walmart to stock up on giant boxes of scoop away kitty litter.

Today is DS Sunday and I have had to forgo my Saturday cooking extravaganza in exchange for some mild (company's coming) tidying and some baking to go with fat mugs of coffee at my kitchen table. The theme this week was/is tofu - which in no way was a deterrent - I did purchase my tofu and was trying to decide between peanut sesame noodles from Smitten Kitchen and curried tofu from Everyday Food (always an excellent place to hunt for easy tasty recipes).

Off to walk with my girl Miss D and then home for some (more) tidying and baking.

  5. Lovely photos; mist and fog can be quite magical. I first felt a pang of pity that you should still be in the clutches of winter, as it's warm and sunny here, with Spring bursting out all over, birds nesting, tra la la, and so forth, but then I remembered:

My mother in law died later in April than this, many years ago, and we couldn't get to the Registrar's office to pick up her death certificate because a) there was a fierce blizzard, and b) a large (doubledecker!)bus immediately ahead of us on the hill started to slide backwards towards us, and we had to do some panic-stricken swerving to avoid becoming dramatic human roadkill. So, no pity, just relief that we are having rather a nice start to Spring.

I'm glad, btw, you had a link to "blue skies" as I wasn't sure if you were referring to coffee or what?! Well, now I know.

So, with MLou coming with hubbs this time, how on earth will you be able to do your gf chat into the wee small hours? hopefully, you still can. Have a marvelous time.

Oh, and before I forget to mention it--loved the photos too. Whoa. Seriously cold there! But what was I thinking? It is Nova Scotia, after all?!

  13. Hmmm. I read the comments after I made mine. It looks like tofu is popular. I've never tried it. I don't even know what it looks like!

Have I been missing something, I wonder?
