Winnie Dixon & Sam(uel) LeonBurger - love, LOVE, l-o-v-e, comfort & joy - recent photos from our fenced in big back garden

Having a good dog is the closest some of us are ever going to come to knowing the direct love of a mother, or God.  Anne Lamott

Anne Lamott essay on dog love @ - warning it will make you cry … tears of comfort, joy & deep, profound love.

  1. Beautiful photos of Winnie and Sam playing and enjoying the snow, what great friends they are.
    love and hugs dear Susan.
    xoxoxo ♡

  2. Love that quote... love your dogs, esp the joys of rolling in the snow. Makes me happy just to see him.

  3. When I see these photos that feature Winnie in her senior years it is obvious that you have given her the best life ever. Both dogs look so happy.
I've had two cats in particular (decades apart) that I've felt 'mothered by' - lovely to see that quote.

  4. Oh, these are such beautiful portraits of your well-loved dogs... Thank you for sharing! (Makes me wish we had some snow to roll around in...)

  5. Doggies + Snow = Peace.Love.Joy

  6. Love these snowy photos of your very special dogs!

  7. How did you end up with a Leonburger ?

  8. He's a rescue Sybil, adopted from our local shelter 3 years ago, his age & provenance unknown. He's not an official LeonBurger but we think he looks an awful lot like one ;-)

  9. Actually Sybil after watching the youtube video I linked to in my previous comment (Doug & I are wondering if maybe he really is a Leonburger). Our Sam looks EXACTLY like these dogs, and has all the loving, sensitive qualities mentioned. We've never had our vet scan him for a microchip identification …

We tease him and call him Samuel Leon"Burger" rather than Berger because of his obsessive & enormous appetite. We sure do love him whatever it is he is.

Hey ! We LOVE comments here at 29 Black Street.
