Miss Winnie Dixon

Please be mine
sweetest valentine

The girls and I saw a huge bald eagle on our walk along the harbour's edge this early morning. An adult eagle sitting where the slab of white ice meets the deep black-blue of the open water.

Eagle - spirit, healing, creation
An apt messenger this Valentines Day. Merci eagle.

  2. MISS WINNIE IS THE PERFECT VALENTINE...SO SWEET AND CUDDLY, BUT STILL RUNS WITH THE WILD ONES IF SHE HAS TO. WHAT COULD BE MORE SYMBOLIC OF LOVE THAN A DOG WHO WORSHIPS YOU AND IS NEVER CRITICAL OF YOU EVEN IF YOU FORGET TO FEED HER? ALL THE DOG STORIES AND POEMS ABOUT DOG DEVOTION COME TO MIND, BUT I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR THEM IN THIS COMMENT. SUSAN, I LOVE ALL YOUR DOGS, ESPECIALLY JAKE... THAT HUGGABLE BUNDLE OF LAUGHTER, AND KISSES, AND FUN, AND TAIL-WAGGING.

  3. THE COMMENT SPACE IS CUT OFF SOONER ISN'T IT? I WANTED TO SAY THAT JAKE WAS THE PERFECT DEVIL-MAY-CARE, SERENDIPITOUS, JOYFUL DOG/PERSON. WE DON'T USUALLY SEE THESE "SPECIAL" DOGS. THEY COME TO US WITH WISDOM IN THEIR EYES, AND WE CAN TALK TO THEM WITHOUT WORDS. OH, AND THE BEST PART IS, THEY ALWAYS SMELL LIKE HAY AND SLEEP WITH THEIR HEADS ON "THE OTHER" PILLOW IN YOUR BED!

  5. Hi Martha - I love, LOVED Jake as well and I miss him still SO much. I miss his exuberant, confident and always full of love personality and his paw pads that always smelled a bit like corn on the cob. Sometimes as the girls and I are doing on of our under the stars walks around this village I look up at the dark sky and wonder where did all that love go.

  6. IT IS STILL ALIVE. GOD WOULDN'T WASTE IT. WHEN WE LOOK AT ANIMALS WE KNOW...AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO THAT NEW WORLD SOMEDAY, "WHEN THE LION SHALL LIE DOWN WITH THE LAMB!" SURELY JAKE WOULD LIKE TO BE IN ON THAT!!! HE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE A QUIZICAL LOOK ON HIS FACE, AND THEN LOOK UP AT YOU SAY, "ISN'T THIS PLACE GREAT? LET'S CHECK OUT THE FOOD!"
