what will be, what has been

Winnie Dixon came to live with me in January 2000 she had just turned one

My Dee girl's doing OK, she's eating well, she's exercising enthusiastically and she's just added a counter clockwise (always) turning around movement often to our morning stroll - the only sign that something is possibly amiss. I love her with all of my heart. She kept my heart and cared for me in the time after Jake's death and I love her even more because of that. She's my sidekick, my shadow ... she's my Dee. I'm hoping for lots more time with her ... but what will be ...
will be what has been.

with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan....

Irving Townsend - Separate Lifetimes

I had a fantastic long visit with my other best girl MLou at her beautiful (tree house) like home. A house perched on a rock and completely surrounded with trees and nature. We walked the three dogs (Bess, Jigs and Winnie) in the park across from her house. A forest park, through wooded trails and along the salt water of the NorthWest Arm. I enjoyed a slab of homemade (by her) chocolate torte cake with compulsory (of course) whipped cream and raspberry sauce while sitting on her covered veranda with the dogs. We chatted while watching the birds and last but not least I got to art supply shop live and in person at the store in the city (instead of my usual by phone or online shopping).

  1. I have posted about dogs close to our heart Susan and the verse quoted reminds me so much of your bond with your precious gang- your generosity of spirit with your animals.I am thinking of you and hope dearest Winnie will be ok.

  2. Your dear dog ...
    I so hope she has many more days left

    I too am dealing with a sweet soul who each day is much older than her eight years

    I look into her eyes and hope for more ...

  3. We so, so understand. Don't ever give up hope . We're learning that at times like this they fight alongside us.
